Greenmount State School wraps up another great year

“Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse….” As the classroom doors close for the last time for 2025, Greenmount State School reflect on the awesome learning journey each of their keen students have embarked on throughout the year.

The last few weeks have been a blur as we danced and sang our way through our school’s production of ‘Cinderella’.

The hours of practise certainly paid off with polished performances from each and every one of our budding actors.

What a remarkable feat it is to put on a play, to stand in front of parents and peers reciting lines and acting scenes.

Our play was all about teamwork, empathy for others, creativity and confidence and we are so proud of all they achieved.

Our school rewards excursion saw us venturing off to the Queensland Museum and Spark Lab for a day of off campus learning and excitement.

We loved the museum, digging deep into dinosaurs, we were captivated by the Croc exhibit and engaged with everything from skeletons to combat tanks.

Spark Lab blew us all away with lightning and thunder, we explored the laws of physics and learnt more about Space and the endless possibilities beyond our blue planet.

Thank you to our P&C for supporting our students in this adventure.

This week our students ventured off to Glennie for our annual block of swimming lessons.

This has complemented the learning Mr Healy has provided our students in our weekly lessons at Nobby State School.

We have seen real improvement in both skill and confidence in the water and this is another important way we can help keep our kids safe.

Our annual awards evening saw us celebrate the dedication and commitment of our students across our key learning areas as well as their enthusiasm and teamwork.

It was wonderful to see so many of our students recognised for their efforts on the night as we celebrated all their growth in learning, achievements, resilience and tenacity whether they are award recipients or not.

We say a sad farewell to our Year 6 students and wish them all the best on their next big adventure.

They will be missed but they are well prepared and ready for all that high school will bring.

We are looking forward to welcoming our new students and families to our school in 2026 and are keen to share with you all our plans for our 125th celebrations next year in September.

Wishing all of our students, families and wider community a very Merry Christmas.

We hope you all spend time with those you love making memories.

Remember to be Strong, Safe and Successful and see you in the New Year. From our Small but Mighty school – Greenmount State School!
