Joyce is certainly one of those subtle enigmas.

Sweet, and softly spoken.

It’s difficult to imagine this woman has 100 years behind her.

After school she worked at the Ascot Cheese Factory.

In August of 1947, she was married to the man with whom she’d go on to build a family - two boys and two girls.

They lived on Ron, her husband’s parents farm at Ascot, only about 2 kilometres from the Cheese Factory.

They spent some time just a bit further north, past Caboolture growing pineapples.

But for the vast majority of her life, Joyce was on the farm at Ascot.

As far as turning 100, Joyce is pretty impressed with herself.

“It’s a pretty good innings, It’s been good, yeah,” she said.

Last Saturday she celebrated her century with family, friends and loved ones.

Happy Belated Birthday Joyce!
