New Kingsthorpe Reservoir built, mountain bush walk re-opened
Toowoomba Regional Council has announced that Mt Kingsthorpe Bushland Park has re-opened following the conclusion of upgrades at the town’s Emmanulla Drive water reservoir.

The Mount Kingsthorpe Bushland Park was temporarily closed during the construction of a $2.5 million upgrade to Kingsthorpe’s water.
The Emmanulla Drive water reservoir upgrades were partially funded by the Queensland Government under a $847,500 grant as part of the Building our Regions (BoR) program.
Toowoomba Region Deputy Mayor and Strategic Water Planning and Capital Delivery portfolio spokesperson Cr Rebecca Vonhoff said this project was necessary to cater for the likely future need of the town.
“We have to think long-term about water for Kingsthorpe and act now for the future,” Cr Vonhoff said.
The Mount Kingsthorpe Bushland Park site accessibility and the walking trail have also been revived to enhance visitor experience.
Parks and Recreation portfolio spokesperson Cr Tim McMahon said these improvements were an exciting addition to the community favourite Mount Kingsthorpe Walk.
“I’m proud that Council has been able to improve the park’s facilities and most importantly improve the overall safety of the park for generations to come,” Cr McMahon said.
The Mount Kingsthorpe Bushland Park and the Emmanulla Drive water reservoir upgrades have been ongoing for the last eight months and were extended due to the extreme wet weather conditions experienced earlier this year.
Cr Vonhoff and Cr McMahon both expressed their appreciation for the community’s patience and understanding whilst the upgrades were being completed.
