Students entertained by modern production of Cinderella

Over 80 students attended the Millmerran Cultural Centre on Monday afternoon for a production of Jally Entertainment’s Cinderella Spinderella.

The play was a modern take on the classic fairytale Cinderella.

When her bossy stepmother, Edna Bucket, forbade her from attending Prince Perfect’s ‘Totally Awesome Dance Party’, Cinderella Spinderella (so-named because she could not stop spinning) was visited by her BFG (Big Furry Godfather).

With his assistance, Cinderella Spinderella was transformed from a maid into a dazzling young woman, and arrived at the ‘Totally Awesome Dance Party’ in a pink Uber.

After dancing with Prince Perfect, she left the party before the clock struck midnight, leaving him bewildered.

Instead of asking for her name as she fled, the Prince called out, “Are you on Instagram?”

The play was interactive, as students were encouraged to answer questions, and invited onto the dance floor during Taylor Swift’s hit Shake It Off.

The biggest laugh of the production was when BFG declared his defective magical wand (which he simply thought was a back scratcher) as a “Cheap TEMU wand!”

The Millmerran Arts Council organised the show by Jally Entertainment.

The production will travel to a total of 46 destinations across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria over the next two months.

The first play was staged in Oakey on 8th September.
