Students showing Legal Studies prowess
Two Clifton State High School students have been recognised for their talent in the subject of Legal Studies.
Year 12 student and School Captain Julianne Espana was recognised at the school’s parade on Monday for receiving a 100 per cent score on her internal Year 12 General Legal Studies assessment.
Deputy Prinicpal Alice James said this is a remarkable achievement.
“Throughout this year, Julianne has spent countless hours cultivating excellence in her academic life,” she said.
“Her effort laid the foundation to achieve exceptionally high grades in her difficult Year 12 subject load, a testament to not only her dedication but also to the dedication of her teachers.
“But in addition to that success, Julianne’s Legal Studies assessments demonstrated such insight into the law that they were selected to be among the few Queensland Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority’s State-wide subject exemplars.
“These exemplars will be used in future years as a model of the high standard of assessment that Legal Studies students should strive towards.”
Fellow student Brianna Naumann was also recognised for excellence in the subject of Legal Studies.
Brianna, along with Evie Batham, Tarj Willmot and Charlie Cameron represented the school at the Queensland Schools Constitutional Convention.
“These students worked together as a great team to debate Constitutional law reform issues under the tutelage of some of Australia’s most esteemed legal minds, including the Australian Human Rights Commissioner, Lorraine Finlay, and the Governor-General, David Hurley,” Ms James said.
“Clifton State High School is very proud to celebrate the success of this team, and in particular Brianna Naumann, who was selected to be one of only 100 representatives across Australia to attend the 28th National Constitutional Convention to be held in Canberra.”
She said Clifton State High School’s motto “achieving in every field* reflects a common goal of success.
“It aims to help students to become lifelong learners who create a positive and successful future for themselves.
“However, the school’s other mantra that must not be forgotten; Finis Coronat Opus which translates to “success crowns effort”.
THe success of these students embodied Finis Coronat Opus.
