The Sport Of Swimming Is The Winner

The 55th Annual Rotary Open Swimming Carnival was held at the Allora Pool over the weekend and was a resounding success.

With over 200 nominations, there was great racing all day with swimmers from all over the Darling Downs and beyond.

Swimmers battled it out in a lively atmosphere, with the crowd cheering enthusiastically as swimmers showcased their skills.

All ages of swimmers were well represented but, with over 25 swimmers under 7 years, the future is bright for swimming on the Downs.

A highlight of the day was the Seamus Ryan Memorial Breaststroke Handicap, which captivated the crowd with incredibly close racing.

This special event honors the memory of Seamus Ryan, a past Allora Swim Club member and featured the winners of the 50m breaststroke events.

We were pleased to welcome members of the community as well as our honored life members including our club patron, Marg Rackley, to enjoy a fabulous day at the Allora Pool.

Big thanks to all the volunteers who made the event run seamlessly. We also must thank all of our sponsors for their kind contributions; Allora Sports Club, Saturn Electrical, Allora Rotary Club, Railway Hotel, Condamine Accountants, NetPro, Amanzi, Black Toyota, Warrego Water Services, John Dee, Warwick Ice, Hutchison Contracting, Ivory Websites, R & L Steinohrt, Funkita/Funky Trunks, Allora Pharmacy, Aqua Shop, Marg Rackley, Dalrymple Apiary Supplies, Mason, Masters, Peters & White Families as well as Andrew Fidge & the Allora Pool.

The carnival not only celebrated swimming but provided a fun and supportive atmosphere for swimmers and spectators alike.
