Vary joins the Nutrien network
On December 1st, Nutrien Ag Solutions expanded its footprint with the acquisition of the bulk fertiliser and ag chemical business of Vary Agricultural Services at Brookstead.

Vary has been a long-standing, family operated business in Brookstead since the early 1950s, established by Alec and Edna Vary.
What began as carting fuel in drums to local farmers, and wheat bags to the Wheat Board and beyond, has transformed throughout the years into a multi-faceted business with services of bulk haulage, cotton haulage, bulk fuel, bulk fertiliser, ag chemicals and oils.
Proprietors Michael and Richard Vary have now sold part of the business located at 92 Ware Street in Brookstead to Nutrien Ag Solutions.
“Vary Agricultural Services has a long and strong history supporting the local agriculture industry, and we are so proud of everything our family has achieved with our customers over the past 69 years,” Branch Manager of the re-branded Nutrien Ag Solutions Brookstead, Richard Vary, said.
“We are looking forward to continuing to deliver value to our community as part of the Nutrien network.
“Our team will all continue in their existing roles so customers can expect to receive the same level of care, support and expertise.”
Vary's core business of haulage, fuels and oils, will still operate from 10 Lord Street under the new name VBS Bulk Haulage, trading independently to Nutrien.
"We are hoping to service the farming and grains industry for many years to come," Michael Vary said.
General Manager of Nutrien Ag Solutions, Damon Ferguson, said the newly re-branded business will operate alongside Nutrien's existing Darling Downs businesses in Pittsworth, Toowoomba, Colonsay and Oakey.
"Vary Agricultural Services is a diverse business, with a fantastic team, that service a broad range of customers across southern Queensland," Mr Ferguson said.
"This is an exciting next step for all involved and a great strategic fit for our business.
“This is also good news for the industry as Nutrien continues to invest in Australian agriculture and ensure farmers in every pocket of the country have access to all the products, services and advice they need to succeed," he said.
