Victory in the golden point sees U17 girls through to Grand Final
The Under 17 side of Pittsworth & District Junior Danes defeated Highfields, 20-18, in a cracking preliminary final in Pittsworth on Saturday that ran into extra time. The Under 15 girls fell just short in their game, missing out on a spot in Saturday’s Grand Final at Clive Berghofer Stadium.
UNDER 17 GIRLS
This week we had a rare opportunity of playing a preliminary final at home.
Thanks so much for the support we received - it was amazing.
What can I say about that game except, WOW, what a game.
The girls started off slowly but when they kicked into gear they played some great footy.
Playing for a spot in the grand final, both teams went toe to toe for the whole game, ending regular time all locked up.
So we went into golden point, not once but twice, with the girls earning a penalty near the post, taking the two points on offer which saw the girls take the game and book their place in the grand final next week.
These young Danes show so much guts and determination in the game coming back from 8 nil down to take the win.
That just shows these girls can really do anything when they put their minds to it.
The whole coaching staff could not be happier with the effort you showed, but saying that we have another mammoth task ahead next week, so see you all at training.
Player of the Match was so hard to pick as all the girls played so well but Amelia took the honours this week.
To Mel and her Under 15s on Saturday, it was not your day but I know you will be back next year bigger and better. - congrats on our great season.
Love to see as many people as we can to come and cheer the girls on this weekend in the grand final.
Once again thanks for the support on Saturday - it means the world to us.
Up the mighty Danes!
- Trotty, Daz, Mark & Mel
